While the use of Kevlar® by DuPont™ certainly isn't proprietary, it is still noteworthy and a significant part of the durability of the MTX Red Label RACE brake pad.
Kevlar® is a synthetic aramid that has outstanding heat-resistance properties relevant to braking products; for example, Kevlar will resist any degree of breaking down up to 850°F.

Red Label RACE brake pads recover incredibly fast in wet conditions, bringing them back to silence very quickly. Red Label RACE are for those who can’t stand the brake squeal.
Red Label Race is for nearly everyone. Very aggressive downhill-oriented riders who push hard on long descents may be the exception: for this, the Gold Label HD will likely be the best-suited option.
Re: Shimano cooling fins: the heat-management abilities of the ceramic compound will outweigh what the cooling fins can do.
